Destination Imagination – Inside Impact Service Learning Challenge Competition 2018

We are pleased to announce that our team who participated in the Service Learning Challenge for Destination Imagination came in 2nd in the Middle Level Category. The Service Learning Challenge is designed to engage students in public service to address real-life community issues. Our students tackled the issue of stigma regarding ex-offenders. Well done, girls!

National School Games Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships 2018

We would like to congratulate our 'B' Division Rhythmic Gymnasts for their good performance at the National School Games. Our gymnasts have placed 2nd and 4th for Level 5 Hoops Individual Event, 6th for Level 5 Clubs Individual Event and 5th for Hoops Individual FIG Event, and 2nd for 3 Hoops and 2 Ball Group Event. Great job, girls!

2018 A*STAR Science Award (Upper Secondary)

We are proud to share that two of our Secondary 3 students have received the above award from the A*Star Academy. The students will attend a 3-day Research Exposure Programme and will receive $500 allowance for the year. Keep up the good work, girls!

ProveIt! Contest - Organised by the National Library Board

We are glad to share that our girls placed 2nd for the above competition. This inter-school competition challenges students’ information and research skills with a focus on on the topic of dispelling online falsehoods and misinformation amongst students this year. The team had to produce a one-page guide for students to help with identifying and fighting online falsehoods by cross referencing NLB's reference collection.


Sorkalam, National Tamil Debate 2018

We are proud to announce that our Tamil debaters earned 2nd place in the biennial competition which was telecast live on Vasantham channel. One student was also awarded the Best Speaker in the Semi-Finals. Great job, girls!

National Police Cadet Corps - Award Badges

We are proud to announce that one of our NPCC cadets was awarded both the SPF-NPCC and Best Unit Cadet Award for exemplifying good leadership qualities and making outstanding contributions to the school unit and HQ events, on top of obtaining the required proficiency badges and a pass in their Physical Fitness Test. These are the highest awards a NPCC cadet can achieve in secondary school. Congratulations!

2018 National School Games (Fencing)

Our fencers have done well in the above events. 2 girls from 'C' Division won 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Epee Individual Event. Our 'C' Division and 'B' Division teams placed 2nd and 4th overall. Well done, fencers!

Sorkalam, National Tamil Debate Quarter-Finals

We are pleased to announce that our students have won the quarter-final against Bendemeer Secondary School and have made it to the semi-finals. Two students clinched Best Speaker Awards in the first and second preliminary rounds. Well done, girls!

Tenpin Bowling Competitions

We are proud to announce that our bowlers placed 3rd in the Doubles Event and achieved Overall 3rd place at the National Schools Tenpin Bowling Championships 2018. We are also glad to share that one of our bowlers has emerged Champion in the Single Event for National Age Group 2018 Girls Under-15 Championships. Congratulations!

​SSSC Badminton Zonal C Division Competition

We are pleased to share that our 'C' Division shuttlers' have earned 3rd place in South Zone after months of grit and hard work. They will compete at the National level and we wish them all the very best. Well done, girls!

Our school basketballers have done well at the Singapore Schools Sports Council Zonal tournament with our 'B' Division placing 3rd in South Zone. They will move on to competing at the National level soon and we wish them all the best.

We are pleased to announce that our school netballers have done well at the Singapore Schools Sports Council Zonal tournament. Our 'B' Division and 'C' Division girls placed 4th and 3rd respectively. They will be competing at the National level soon and we wish them all the best.

Girl Guides Puan Noor Aishah Award 2017

We are pleased to announce that the Girl Guides Companies of St. Margaret's Secondary School has attained Gold for the Puan Noor Aishah Honour Award in the year 2017. 10th International Science Youth Forum @ Singapore

Three Secondary 4 students represented our school at the 10th International Science Youth Forum that saw participants from Australia, Canada, Taipei, Poland, Singapore and more. Through the week-long forum, they deepened their scientific understanding by attending lectures conducted by Nobel Laureates and eminent scientists, and learning from their peers' scientific research in a Poster Competition.

Singapore Novices Championships 2018

We are pleased to announce that our fencing team has garnered several awards at the Singapore Novices 2018. Our fencers placed 2nd and 3rd in both the Women Epee Foil Individual and Women Foil Individual events. In team events, our fencers ranked 3rd in the Women Sabre event, 2nd in the Women Epee event and 1st in the Women Foil event. Well done, fencers!

Debate Association Debating Championships 2018

We are pleased to share that our school debaters have beaten ACS (Barker), Hua Yi Secondary School, Raffles Girls' School, Singapore American School and Kent Ridge Secondary School to emerge Champions of Silver Division in the Debate Association Debating Championships. 3 students also ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd best overall speakers of Silver Division in the tournament. Good job, girls!

Singapore International Schools Debate League 2018

Our Debate Club school team ranked 20th out of 68 teams in SISDL 2018. In addition, two students were each named Best Speaker in Round 1 and Round 3 of the qualifying rounds. Well done, girls!

Singapore National Youth Championship U-15 2017

Congratulations to our school bowler for emerging Champion at the Singapore National Youth Championship U-15 2017. This is the second year she holds the title. Great job!


Community Problem Solving Competition 2017

In November last year, a group of students took part in the Community Problem Solving Competition. The team chose to focus on creating a more safe and secure environment for St. Margaret's Secondary School students, particularly at the walkway along Farrer Road. To come up with a sound solution, the team conducted surveys and worked with relevant stakeholders over two years before submitting their findings and results to the above-mentioned competition. Today, users of the walkway will notice that it is well-lit and sheltered due to the effort of the team. For their contribution, the students were awarded a Certificate of Honourable mention. Thank you girls for your work on improving our community!

Commerce Competitions 2017

In November 2017, our Principles of Accounts (PoA) and Elements of Business Studies (EBS) students took part in several commerce-related competitions. We are pleased to share that two PoA students emerged Top 20 out of 300 participants for the National Financial Literacy Competition organised by Outram Secondary School. In the Republic Polytechnic Marketing Innovation Challenge, two teams consisting of EBS and PoA students qualified for the finals with the PoA team ranking in the Top 5. Good job, girls!

President's Guide Award and Baden Powell Award Winner

We are proud to announce that our Girl Guides have done the school proud with one Guide receiving the prestigious President's Guide Award and two Guides receiving the Baden Powell Award. The President's Guide Award is presented by the President of Singapore to the most all-rounded Guider in recognition of her excellent performance, dedication to the Guide Movement and service to the community while the Baden Powell Award is the highest youth award achievable in the Scout and Guide movement worldwide. Well done, girls!

Media Computing Competition 2017

The Media Computing Competition is an annual event jointly organised by the Curriculum Planning & Development Department (CPDD) and MOE to recognise excellence in computing skills. We are proud to share that a Computer Applications student from Sec 3NT garnered a Silver Award in the Game Category. Well done!

English Language Assessments and Competition

We are pleased to announce that the Secondary Two students have done well in the UNSW ICAS English and Writing assessments, as well as the Royal Commonwealth Essay Writing Competition 2017.

In the UNSW Writing assessment, three students were awarded High Distinction and four students received Distinction for their effort. We are pleased to share that one of our students has also been awarded a medal for being the Top Scorer of this component in Singapore. 

In the UNSW English assessment, one student received High Distinction while 19 achieved Distinction.

We would also like to congratulate two students who have done well in the Royal Commonwealth Essay Writing Competition. One student received the Gold Award in the Junior Category for her essay about how children and teenagers can come together to achieve world peace while another received the Bronze Award in the Senior Category for her essay about what is in her Toolbox for Peace.

Mother Tongue Competitions

We are pleased to share that our students have done well in several Mother Tongue Competitions. 

One student was presented with a Merit Award for the Inter-School Chinese Essay Writing Competition and a team of Secondary One students clinched 3rd prize for the Create Your Own Newspaper Competition organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning. We are also glad to share that 3 Secondary One Higher Chinese students had their essays published in a literary collection called Equatorial Wind after participating in the inter-school storytelling and writing competition.

We are also proud of the Tamil Language students for their great performance in two competitions. Our students clinched 1st Prizes in the Oratorical and Reading categories of two competitions. 2 students earned consolation prizes for Reading while 1 was awarded a consolation prize for Singing.

Netball Competitions

Our lower secondary netballers have done well in the Deloitte Pesta Sukan 2017 Netball Competition and T-Net Club U14 Netball Competition 2017. In both competitions, they have emerged 1st Runner-ups. Excellent job, girls!

The NPCC Drills Team has worked hard and done well, marching their way to the Top 20 of the competition whilst beating out competition from more than 150 other secondary schools. Great job, girls!

Lee Kuan Yew All Round Excellence Award

We congratulate Farah Nabilah Binte Jamaludin of Class 2016 for being one of the 11 award recipients for the distinguished Lee Kuan Yew All Round Excellence Award. She received this award for having excelled in both academic and non-academic spheres, and was selected to give the speech during the ceremony on behalf of the award recipients. Her efforts will definitely be an inspiration to the St. Margaret's family. Well done!


Tamil Language Competitions

We are proud to announce that our students, who took part in various Tamil Language competitions, have achieved good results. One student was awarded 1st Prize by the Association of Singapore Tamil Writers in the Kamban Poetry Competition 2017. Another student was awarded Silver for Budding Writers – Short Story Writing Competition. For the Budding Artiste – Script Writing Competition, three students were given Silver Awards. Finally, a student garnered 2nd Prize for the Indian Musical Instrument – Venna Solo - Immediate Category organised by the National Art Council. Excellent job, girls!
