Edusave Character Award (ECHA) 2017

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has introduced the Edusave Character Award (ECHA) in 2012 to recognise students who demonstrate exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behaviour and actions.


ECHA awardees must satisfy the following eligibility criteria :

a)   Awardees must be Singaporeans studying in government/ government-aided primary or secondary schools, independent schools, specialised independent schools, specialised schools or junior colleges/ centralised institute (JC/CI); and


b)    Awardees must, on a consistent basis, demonstrate good character and values.

The selection process is as follows :

i)    Nomination (from 01 Mar 2017 to 24 Mar 2017)

Nomination Form (Form A1) can be submitted by students, teachers and other key stakeholders (including parents) who interact with the students. Only nominees who fulfil all the criteria listed in the nomination form would be shortlisted for the next selection round. However, students who have shown strength of character in the face of adversity but are unable, largely because of the difficult circumstances they are in, to fulfil the criteria, could be considered for the award on a case by case basis. ii)     Shortlisting (from 3 Apr 2017 to 22 May 2017)

The shortlisting of nominees will be conducted by a panel comprising school staff. Nominees will be required to complete Form B1, and ask a classmate and Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) co-member of her choice to complete Form B2 and Form B3 respectively. Her CCA Teacher and Form Teacher will also file reports using Form B4 and Form B5 respectively.

These nominees will be notified of the results of the shortlisting round by 10 July.

iii)    Interview (24 July 2017 to 7 August 2017)

The shortlisted ECHA nominees will be interviewed by a panel comprising school leader(s) and member(s) of the School Management Committee (SMC) before the final validation and endorsement. 


ECHA awardees will receive a certificate and an award voucher worth $500/-.
